# Omviq Help

Omviq is the point-of-sale system for restaurants and shops. These pages show you what to tap, what you will see and what to do when something does not work. Pick the section that matches the job in front of you.

At the counter, start with [Make a sale](https://help.omviq.com/selling/make-a-sale/) and [Take a payment](https://help.omviq.com/payments/take-a-payment/). In the back office, start with [Open and close a till](https://help.omviq.com/till/open-and-close-a-till/) and [Read the daily summary](https://help.omviq.com/reports/read-the-daily-summary/).

## Getting started

Sign in, choose your business, enter your PIN and open a till. [Sign in and start selling](https://help.omviq.com/getting-started/sign-in-and-start-selling/) takes you from the sign-in screen to your first sale.

## Selling

Ring up a sale with [Make a sale](https://help.omviq.com/selling/make-a-sale/). Find items by browsing, searching or scanning with [Find and scan products](https://help.omviq.com/selling/find-and-scan-products/). Fix a line with [Change items in a sale](https://help.omviq.com/selling/change-items-in-a-sale/), take money off with [Apply a discount or coupon](https://help.omviq.com/selling/apply-a-discount-or-coupon/), and set a sale aside with [Hold and resume a sale](https://help.omviq.com/selling/hold-and-resume-a-sale/).

## Payments

[Take a payment](https://help.omviq.com/payments/take-a-payment/) covers cash, card and the other payment methods. [Split a payment and add a tip](https://help.omviq.com/payments/split-a-payment-and-add-a-tip/) covers paying with several methods and tipping. [When a payment does not finish](https://help.omviq.com/payments/when-a-payment-does-not-finish/) tells you what to do when a payment stalls or is refused.

## Voids and refunds

Cancel a sale that is not paid yet with [Void a sale](https://help.omviq.com/refunds/void-a-sale/). Give money back on a paid sale with [Refund or return items](https://help.omviq.com/refunds/refund-or-return-items/). Owners and managers set the rules in [Set your return policy](https://help.omviq.com/refunds/set-your-return-policy/).

## Tills and the business day

[Open and close a till](https://help.omviq.com/till/open-and-close-a-till/) follows one cashier's drawer from the starting float to the count. [Close the business day](https://help.omviq.com/till/close-the-business-day/) is the manager's end-of-day close.

## Reports

[Read the daily summary](https://help.omviq.com/reports/read-the-daily-summary/) shows one business day on one page. [Sales, payments and tax reports](https://help.omviq.com/reports/sales-payments-and-tax-reports/) explains the item, trend, payment and tax reports. [Check voids, refunds and cashier activity](https://help.omviq.com/reports/check-voids-refunds-and-cashier-activity/) shows who did what.

## Printers
