Read the daily summary
The Daily Summary puts one business day of your branch on one page: what was sold and refunded, what each payment method took, what each order type brought in, the day’s voids, and how the day compares with the same weekday a week earlier. Every figure is added up from the day’s own sales and refund records, so it agrees with the Transactions list for the same day.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- You need the View Sales Report permission to open the Daily Summary, and View Transactions for it to read the sales.
- The voids box needs View Voids & Refunds. Without it, the box says you may not see voids, and the rest of the day is still shown.
- The report is for the branch you are signed into. To read another branch, switch to it from the organization menu in the header and run the report there.
Open it and run it
Section titled “Open it and run it”- Open Reports → Daily Summary.
- Choose the Business day and press Run.
- Read the lines under the title. They name the branch, the business day, the time the report was read (to the second, in the branch’s own time zone, which the line names) and the day it is compared with.
Today, and a day that was closed only moments ago, is marked Provisional. The report says that sales after the read time are not included. Run it again to bring it up to date.
A day the report cannot add up exactly is refused with a sentence saying why, for example a sale whose recorded amounts do not make its own total. It is never shown with a figure missing. A day holding a figure too large to state exactly is refused with its own sentence and Contact support. No cards, tables, files or printed page are shown for it, and Retry is not offered because the same day would answer the same.
The cards
Section titled “The cards”| Card | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Net sales | What the day’s sales brought in, less refunds, before tax and tips. |
| Refunds | The day’s refunds. |
| Tax | The tax charged, less the tax refunded. |
| Total sales | Net sales plus tax, gratuity and restocking fees. |
| Collected | What the payments that settled took, less what they gave back. |
| Sales | How many sales were made. |
| Refund count | How many refunds were made. |
| Average ticket | The sales’ total divided by the number of sales. Refunds are not counted. |
| Void count | How many voids the day had, as the Void Report counts them. |
| Void amount | What those voids took off. |
Each card shows last week’s figure and the change in percent. New means last week had none. A dash means last week’s day could not be compared, and the line under the title says why. If you may not see voids, the two void cards say so instead of showing a figure.
Sales, refunds and net
Section titled “Sales, refunds and net”One table with a column for Sales, Refunds and Net, which is sales and refunds together.
| Row | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Gross sales | The items at their prices. |
| Discounts | The discounts given. |
| Other amounts | Sale lines that are not items, such as a deposit. |
| Tax included in prices | Tax already inside a tax-inclusive price. It is taken out to reach net sales. |
| Charges | Service and delivery charges and surcharges, before their tax. |
| Net sales | Gross sales, minus discounts, minus tax included in prices, plus charges, plus other amounts. |
| Tax | Every tax charged. |
| Gratuity | Tips. |
| Restocking fees | Fees kept on refunds. |
| Total sales | Net sales plus tax, gratuity and restocking fees. |
Payments
Section titled “Payments”There is one row for each payment method used that day, with its sales, refunds and net, and how many of each. Money that no payment method explains gets its own row. A row with nothing in it is left out.
| Row | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Paid, method not recorded | Payments that settled without naming their method. |
| Awaiting settlement | Pay-later payments the provider has not settled yet. |
| Owed back to the customer | What a card or other non-cash payment took beyond the bill, to be returned. |
| Refund, payment not recorded | Refunds whose payment back was not recorded. |
| Unpaid, settlement expired | Pay-later bills that lapsed unpaid. |
| Unattributed | What is left that no payment explains. |
Total sales adds up every row. Collected, beside it, is what the payments that settled took, less what they gave back.
Order types
Section titled “Order types”A small table for each order type the day’s sales were rung under, named as your branch’s settings name it. A refund is counted under the order type of the sale it refunds. Some rows are special:
- No order type holds sales recorded without an order type.
- Refund of a sale not attributed holds a refund whose sale is not named, cannot be found or may not be shown to you. It states its refunds only, and its Sales and Net read as a dash.
- Order type not recognised holds a recorded order type your settings do not know.
If the names cannot be read, the section says Order type names could not be read, with Retry. The money stays in every total.
The day’s voids as the Void Report states them: how many and their amount, item voids and whole-order voids, beside last week’s. If you may not see voids, the box says so. If the voids could not be read, it says why. It never shows a zero in their place.
Some sales are recorded with totals only, without item lines, for example a delivery partner’s prepaid order or a collection at pickup. They are counted like any other sale, and a line beneath the tables names how many there were. Beneath the page, Omviq also states how many records were read and counted, and how many were not counted and why: training sales, cancelled checkouts, sales not completed, and records you may not see.
The dashboard’s figure is an estimate
Section titled “The dashboard’s figure is an estimate”The dashboard’s Today’s sales tile and the Sales drill-in are a live estimate. The Daily Summary counts the day’s completed sales from the sales records. Both pages say so beside their figure.
Print and export
Section titled “Print and export”- Print prints the page on A4: the cards, the three tables, and beneath them the voids box. A normal day fits on one page. A longer one continues with the header repeated and Page n of m at the foot of every page.
- Export CSV and Export Excel hold the same figures, with a header block that gives the branch, the day, the read time, what the day is compared with and the currency. In the Excel file, money is a number in the money format and a card’s change is a number in the percent format, so a spreadsheet can add and sort them. The CSV writes each figure as the page shows it.
In Urdu, the page, the printed page and both files read right to left.
The Reports dashboard
Section titled “The Reports dashboard”The Reports home is for managers and up. Cashiers do not have it. A cashier closes their own shift with the Close Shift function on the terminal.
| Role | What you see |
|---|---|
| Owner | The full home across all locations, brands and tills. |
| Manager | The full home for your assigned locations. |
| Accountant | Sales and tax tiles, including export. |
The home has two tiers and a catalog:
- Business Performance holds the tiles: today’s sales, average ticket, tender mix, transaction count, voids and refunds, tax collected and recent transactions. Each tile shows a value and, when comparison is on, the change from the prior period.
- Fiscal & Operational holds the end-of-day and oversight cards: Running Shift (the X-Read), Cashier Count and Exceptions.
- All Reports lists a drill-in link to every report, grouped by tier.
Tap any tile to open its detailed report. The header, the date range picker, the scope selector and the refresh control stay in view as you scroll. A manager can reorder or hide cards under Reports → Settings, and the changes are saved automatically.
Every report screen has a Refresh button that re-runs the report against the latest data without changing your filters. An As of time beside it shows when the report last refreshed. Most reports can also be filtered by date range, terminal, cashier and, for a business with several locations, location.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| The report shows no data | The date range or the terminal filter may not match the period you want. Adjust the filters. |
| A sale is not on the report yet | The report loaded before the sale was posted. Tap Refresh. |
| You cannot open reports | Your role does not allow it. Ask an admin to check your permissions. |
| The report says a permission is missing | Ask an admin to give your role the permission it names. |
| The numbers do not match your payment processor | Some payments may be pending or authorized and not yet captured. Allow time for them to settle and compare captured amounts. |
| A card says Contact support | The day holds a figure too large to state exactly. Contact support. |
